The Activity Tracker is a device designed for the parents of the Admirals Hockey Club in order to track their child’s on-ice activities.
The Admirals Hockey Club is the first and only Model Hockey Association in Illinois and one of only 17 Model Associations in the nation.
In order to attain this status, the Admirals have adopted USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM) across all age and ability levels.
The Admirals believe that every minute of ice-time is valuable and important for the development of young hockey players. To that end, the Admirals Hockey Club has provided this application so that parents can track their child’s activity during a practice or game.
There are two types of features with this application:
• Stop watch features
• Counters
Stop watch features are designed to track the amount of seconds or minutes spent on a given activity. For these, hit the “start” button when an activity begins to occur, and the “end” button when the activity is complete. Starts and stops can occur during the course of a game or practice, and the app will track the total time devoted to an activity.
Counter features are designed to tally the number of times an activity or action occurs. For these, hit the “+” key when an item occurs. If you make an error in counting, simply tap the “-“ key to erase the count.
This application includes:
• A stop watch to track the amount of time a coach spends explaining drills and concepts.
• A stop watch to track the amount of time a child is skating (moving).
• A counter to track the number of pass attempts, or a pass in which the child activity tries to get the puck to another player, regardless of whether or not the pass was successful. ‘Dumping the puck’ or blind passes should not be considered pass attempts.
• A counter to track the number of passes received.
• A counter to track the number of shots taken on goal.
• A stop watch to track the amount of time the child has control of the puck.
• A counter to track the number of times a coach provides direct feedback to a child.
Parents can use this app to track activity at a practice or a game. In addition, parents can use the app to track activity at another team’s practice or games. Though the app is designed for hockey, it can be used to track activity at other sports (either practices or games).
Information gathered in the tracking app is saved and can be retrieved within the app, so that parents can compare the results of a practice versus a game, or compared the results of their team’s practice versus the practice of another hockey club.
